Wat Buddharangsi of Miami
December 5, 2013 is His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand’s 86th birthday. He was born on December 5, 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. December 5th is also a day to celebrate Father’s Day in Thailand and also honoring His Majesty the King as father of the country. On this very special occasion, Thai people in Thailand and throughout the world will celebrate His Majesty’s 86th birthday and wish His Majesty the King happiness and long life. His Majesty the King became King Rama IX of the Chakri dynasty on June 9, 1946, His Majesty is the world's longest-serving current head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history. This year Thailand celebrates the 67th anniversary celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne. In observance of this important day, we will celebrate His Majesty the King’s 84rd Birthday and Thai Father's Day at Wat Buddharangsi of Miami on Sunday December 8, 2013. The schedule is as follows:

09:00 a.m. Ordination ceremony accepting the eight precepts of the Buddhist doctrines to make merit in honor of His Majesty the King's 86th birthday
09:30 a.m. Ceremony for His Majesty the King's 86th birthday:
- Presentation of flower "Pan Poom" in front of His Majesty's portrait
- The chairperson opens the ceremony by opening the "Krouy"
- Monks recite the "Jareonchaiyamongkolkatha"
- Sing The Royal Anthem - Sansoen Phra Barami
10:00 a.m. Thai Father's Day and Outstanding Community service award:
- Thai Father's Day celebration ceremony
- Outstanding Thai Father of the Year Award
- Outstanding community service award
11:00 a.m. Offer lunch to the monks and to the eight precepts participants
- All people have lunch together
01:00 p.m. Dharma teaching "Tossapit Rajadham" in Thai
- Translation into English will follow.
6:00 p.m. Evening chanting by monks and laypersons in Pali to make merit in honor of His Majesty the King's 86rd birthday
